Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church Youth

Trips and programs for different ages

Honduras Mission Trip - High School

Every other year our high school group takes a mission trip to Honduras in partnership with Honduras Outreach Incorporated(www.hoi.org). We work with one small village, Barrio Peru, which is located in the northeast section of the country in the Rancho Olancho Province helping to improve life for local residents.

Great Escape Camp -  Middle School

This special camp experience brings together middle school students from around the southeast to learn about God, worship, have fun, play games, and meet many of other young people. We always come back from camp with great stories, close bonds and fond memories.

Summer Mission Trips - High School

We work on our students’ serving skills with our summer trips which usually involve serving a big city’s homeless community in order to learn more about ways to improve our own ministry to the homeless people of Atlanta.

Feed the Homeless - Middle and High School

We schedule four or five trips to downtown Atlanta each year to feed the homeless breakfast. This ministry was started by the youth about 5 years ago, and has been one of our most popular and enduring programs. We meet in the early morning to prepare breakfast by baking biscuits, cutting ham and brewing coffee to bring with us.

Bring a Blanket - November 14-15

We will be spending the night in the church parking lot to raise awareness of the problem of homelessness in our community and to better understand our friends who are homeless. We will also be collecting blankets from anyone who comes by in order to give them out the next morning when we go downtown.
